Zscaler strengthens its management team for Service Provider business

Santa Clare, California, October, 30, 2008

Zscaler, the industry-first, multi-tenant SaaS security service, announced today that Mike Matthys has joined Zscaler as Vice President, World-wide Service Provider Sales. Mike has held numerous global sales and business development roles with StrataCom, Phone.com, Calient and most recently NebuAd.

"Mike has a track record of building world-class sales teams. He has achieved tremendous success in launching new technology platforms and new revenue models for service providers," said Jay Chaudhry, Zscaler's CEO. “He brings a new dimension to the Zscaler team. His experience working with service providers around the world will accelerate our in-the-cloud offerings to this important industry segment.”

"Service Providers are intensely interested in developing premium revenue sources beyond broadband and wireless access,” said Matthys. “With its massively-scalable technology for in-the-cloud security and parental-control services, Zscaler offers service providers an opportunity to generate incremental revenue without requiring upfront investment in equipment or operational costs.”

At StrataCom (acquired by Cisco), Mike was VP of International Sales and built a $70M sales operation in the Asia Pacific region. While at Phone.com (now OpenWave), Mike served as VP of International Sales and built relationships with wireless carriers and handset manufacturers to launch wireless email and web services that led to Phone.com’s billion dollar IPO. During his time at Calient Networks, Mike had several roles including VP Marketing and Sales where he introduced new switched wavelength services to service providers. Most recently, Mike was the SVP of ISP Solutions and World-wide Sales at NebuAd, where he introduced a network-based online advertising technology that enabled both Telco’s and Cable operators to directly participate in online advertising revenues and closed agreements for more than 10 million households.
