Zscaler Joins Industry Leaders in forming Cloud Security Alliance

San Jose, California, March, 31, 2015

Zscaler, Inc., the industry’s first in-the-cloud multi-tenant security provider, today announced it has joined other industry leaders as a founding charter company of the Cloud Security Alliance.

The Cloud Security Alliance is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, and education on its uses to help secure all other forms of computing.

“Cloud Computing delivers unprecedented economies of scale in information technology, ultimately providing businesses with less expensive and more flexible computing solutions,” said Jay Chaudhry, CEO of Zscaler. “Providing assurance that cloud solutions are secure is a shared responsibility of a broad coalition of industry experts, and we are thrilled to play a founding role in bringing these stakeholders together in the inaugural Cloud Security Alliance.”

“The very nature of how businesses use information technology is being transformed by the ‘on-demand’ cloud computing model,” said Dave Cullinane, Chief Information Security Officer at eBay, Inc.  “It is imperative that information security leaders are engaged at this early stage to help assure that the rapid adoption of cloud computing builds in information security best practices without impeding the business.  I am proud to be a co-founder of this important initiative.”

Zscaler’s pioneering Global Cloud Infrastructure enables any end user, from any place using any device, a rich Internet experience while enforcing security and business policy. This capability is delivered with a zero client footprint and is offered as an on-demand subscription, providing the attractive cost of ownership and flexible features that are the hallmark of cloud computing. According to Chaudhry, “In-the-Cloud technologies such as Zscaler have great potential to solve difficult information security problems by providing global visibility and control to the increasingly mobile and virtual enterprise.”

“Security is almost universally the number one concern of companies moving their applications into the cloud,” said Jim Reavis, co-founder of the Cloud Security Alliance. “The Cloud Security Alliance is bringing together the best minds in security and cloud computing to look towards the future of IT. The support of companies like Zscaler will help us develop a solid framework and set of recommendations for companies to deliver services in the cloud with security built in from the very beginning.”
